Last field session of the 2020 season

Our last session of the year started strong, with beautiful observations of dolphins made during scuba diving by Alice, Anne-Sophie, Amaëlle and Caroline: the team notably witnessed superb interactions between 11 dolphins from the community. Among the behaviors filmed and photographed, we noted a violent altercation between Keishi and Tikei, Zélie and Câline having fun passing the tip of their snouts through our bubbles to pop them, Zip who, as usual, spins, whistles and looks at herself in the camera porthole, and Nikki swimming in infant position under the abdomen of her own calf (?). The male Tikei also adopts a dominant attitude towards divers, approaching them rather brutally.

During the first week, we also witnessed the gestation of Nina and Roxie, which does not prevent the two females from throwing themselves into the waves of the tidal bore in the late afternoon.

Result: nearly 70 GB of data collected and just as much archiving and analysis work ahead! Our female team fortunately does not seem to lack motivation!
