As part of the project to establish a Marine Educational Area - MEA - at Rangiroa middle school, the association 'Dauphins de Rangiroa' intervened on January 13 with the sixth-grade class Mahana. Thanks to Mr. Bourgade and the school for their willingness to involve the atoll's environmental associations in this initiative!
The students were first trained to identify eight dolphins belonging to the Tiputa community, part of their history, their kinship ties, certain behaviors, and associated sound emissions. They then had to find the characteristics of six dolphins, Maui, Tikei, Enzo, Zip, Zélie and Câline, based on the information previously given.
We follow this beautiful project with attention. It involves symbolically allocating coastal areas to the commune's children to raise their awareness of the marine world and motivate them to engage in favor of their environment. The idea is also to create a 'Sea Council' so that students are involved in decisions concerning the protection of the marine world in Rangiroa.
